Domain expiry

See when a monitored domain's registration expires.

Overview

Since v3.11.0, uptime monitor detail pages show when the monitored domain's registration expires, alongside the SSL certificate expiry. Checkmate looks up the registrable domain of the monitor's URL via WHOIS and displays the expiry date in the stat boxes at the top of the page.

How it works

  • The lookup runs when you open a monitor's detail page and is cached server-side, so repeated visits don't hammer WHOIS servers.
  • The date shown is the registration expiry of the registrable domain (e.g. example.com for a monitor on api.example.com).
  • If the registry doesn't return an expiry date — common for some country-code TLDs — the box shows N/A.
